THE POSITION

We’re looking for an experienced tax attorney to join the FanDuel Tax Department in our New York City office. The Senior Tax Manager will assist the VP of Tax with managing all legal related functions within the FanDuel Group Tax Department. Responsibilities cover assisting with all manner of tax planning opportunities; conducting tax research and drafting tax position memos across all tax types; interpreting tax statutes, regulations, and other guidance; partnering with the Compliance and Legal functions to manage tax related workstreams; and drafting and reviewing tax related intercompany and third-party contract language. The Senior Tax Manager will also assist the VP of Tax with managing the Tax function as a whole as a member of the tax leadership team in addition to managing external advisor relationships. The Senior Tax Manager will also work closely with senior members of business functions throughout the company and the international tax team at Flutter Entertainment.

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
- Assist the VP of Tax with managing the Tax function as a whole as a member of the tax leadership team
- Provide sound business judgement especially when dealing with uncertain areas of tax and gaming law
- Contribute to a wide variety of tax planning projects (e.g., restructuring, M&A, SOX compliance, etc.) across all lines of business within our North American operating groups
- Assist other members of the Tax team with conducting/reviewing tax research and advise on the potential impacts of pending tax law changes and updated tax regulations across all tax types
- Work with other members of the Tax team to draft tax position memos across all tax types
- Draft/review tax related intercompany and third-party contract language
- Interpret tax and gaming statutes, regulations, and other guidance and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop appropriate action plans based on those interpretations
- Obtain and maintain a strong knowledge of all lines of business and associated products in order to provide advice regarding any necessary tax related product functionalities and reporting
- Partner with the Compliance functions to manage all tax related regulatory and licensing matters
- Partner with the Legal functions to manage all tax related corporate governance, controversy, and government affairs matters
- Liaise with international, federal, state, and local taxing authorities and regulatory bodies
- Develop and manage relationships with the other internal business functions
- Assist the VP of Tax with managing the other members of the Tax team
- Manage external advisors and consulting projects
- Work closely with the international Tax team at Flutter Entertainment
THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
- Juris Doctorate Degree and member of at least one state bar
- Relevant Postgraduate Degree strongly preferred (MS in Taxation, LL.M. in Taxation, etc.)
- 6+ years of professional tax legal experience practicing as a tax attorney, working as a tax advisor at a public accounting firm, and/or performing an in-house corporate tax advisory role
- CPA certification a major plus
- Advanced tax research and tax technical writing skills are required
- Experience with statutory and regulatory interpretation and analysis is strongly preferred
- Experience with contract drafting and review is strongly preferred
- Must have a strong desire to learn about new areas of tax law and the gaming regulatory environment (via direction from the FanDuel Group Tax Department and continuing legal education courses)
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment
- Must be data driven with the ability to bring strong analytical rigor to decision-making with a focus on getting the right answer
- Excellent organizational skills and time/project management skills are required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Experience and comfort with presenting to senior-level executives is a major plus
- Experience directly managing junior staff members is a plus
- Professional experience with the sports, gaming, and/or technology industries is a major plus
- Professional experience with the media and entertainment industry is a plus

The applicable salary range for this position is $158,000 - $198,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation.
This role includes flexible time off (including unlimited paid time off for full-time employees) and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
