THE POSITION

We are seeking an outstanding AWS MySQL Database Engineer to join our team. The role involves a combination of database administration, software engineering, architecture, cloud infrastructure, and database design, management, and optimization. The Cloud Database Engineer is critical for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications and services.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
- Designing and developing MySQL databases and data models, including table relationships, primary keys, and optimized schema structures
- Writing complex SQL queries with subqueries, joins, window functions, and aggregate functions to extract, manipulate, and analyze data for various business needs
- Optimizing database performance through query tuning, index creation, execution plan analysis, and caching mechanisms
- Troubleshooting and resolving database issues, such as slow queries, locking conflicts, and data inconsistencies
- Creating and maintaining robust database backups and recovery plans to ensure data protection and continuity
- Implementing security measures, including role-based access controls, encryption, and authentication mechanisms, to safeguard sensitive data
- Developing stored procedures and functions to automate data processes, minimizing manual intervention, and enhancing efficiency
- Providing technical support to database users and stakeholders, addressing queries, and collaborating on effective solutions
- Collaborating with application developers to seamlessly integrate databases with applications, ensuring optimal data flow and usability
- Staying updated with the latest MySQL developments and best practices to continually improve database infrastructure performance
THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
- You have experience as a MySQL Developer and have expertise in designing and optimizing databases using the MySQL management system
- You have hands-on proficiency in SQL and other related programming languages
- You have experience with Amazon Web Services such as EKS, IAM, EC2, S3, CLI, SDK
- You have knowledge of Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- You have knowledge of CI/CD tools, Development lifecycle & best practices for coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- You have Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java or Python.
- You have successfully developed and maintained database-driven applications and web services using MySQL
- You have knowledge of database performance tuning and indexing strategies
- You exhibit strong problem-solving skills
- You communicate effectively, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA engineers, and technical project managers

The applicable salary range for this position is $150,000 - $187,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
