The Role:

We are seeking a hands-on VP Legal to manage a wide range of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. This role will support our marketplace, commercial partnerships, product, marketing, and operations, with a focus on practical, business-oriented advice in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

Ticket Marketplace Legal Strategy and Compliance

  • Regulatory Counseling: Provide guidance on regulatory compliance, including ticketing and resale regulations, consumer protection rules, and pricing transparency.
  • Product Review: Review user flows to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Marketing Review: Review and approve marketing claims, promotional materials, press releases, and other consumer-facing materials.
  • Privacy Compliance: Advise on data privacy and security requirements and help implement privacy-by-design practices with product and engineering.
  • Intellectual Property. Manage IP strategy, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and licensing.

Corporate Governance

  • Advise the Board and executive team on governance best practices.
  • Working closely with outside counsel, prepare and manage corporate records, board resolutions, and shareholder matters.

Commercial Contracts

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including with vendors and strategic partners.

Employment

  • Partner closely with HR on employee relations, internal investigations, and compliance initiatives.

Risk Management & Litigation

  • Identify legal and regulatory risks across the business and propose practical mitigation strategies.
  • Manage pre-litigation disputes with customers, partners, and vendors; oversee outside counsel for any litigation or regulatory inquiries.
  • Build and manage internal legal and compliance workflows, processes, and documentation.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Law degree and an active license to practice in a relevant jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of experience, including both law firm and in-house roles, at technology, e-commerce, or marketplace companies. Preference for candidates who have been an early legal hire in a growth-stage company.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage legal matters from strategy to execution.
  • Experience counseling product, marketing and data teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen, excellent communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

At Gametime pay ranges are subject to change and assigned to a job based on specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.

$255,000$330,000 USD
