Scopely is looking for a Director of Production to join an unannounced title working with External Development in our Shanghai office on a hybrid basis.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced AAA mobile game, and we’re assembling a team of passionate game makers to craft unforgettable environments and immersive adventures that players will love.

What You Will Do

The Director of Production will play a key role in driving the development effort for our ambitious new AAA game in partnership with the external development team. In this role, you will collaborate with both internal and external teams to strategically manage the execution and delivery of the project. This is a unique opportunity to significantly impact the game's success.

You will report to the Executive Producer and work closely with all functions to ensure that our internal processes and capabilities are optimized to guide our game through the various stages of development.

  • Serve as the primary execution point of contact, partnering closely with the external game development team to build and deliver an exceptional free-to-play, cross-platform game that captivates and engages players.
  • Collaborate with the game's Executive Producer to translate high-level milestone goals into clear, actionable operation plans for our game studio partners.
  • Drive and embed the "One Team" mindset, culture, and necessary processes with our external development partner.
  • Maintain a comprehensive, detailed understanding of the project's current status and proactively identify, track, and mitigate potential risks.
  • Mentor and guide producers to ensure the project maintains transparency, cohesion, and effectiveness.
  • Lead by example to position the production team as a "force multiplier," setting the standard for excellence, driving, supporting, and amplifying the team's efforts to achieve tangible outcomes and goals.
  • Identify gaps in current workflows, address foundational operational challenges, proactively anticipate issues, and direct leads in resolving complex cross-functional problems.
  • Provide clear, concise updates on major challenges and critical issues facing the game team, along with the strategic plans and actions being taken to address them.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 10+ years of video game production experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a people management role.
  • Experience leading and managing cross-functional teams with a track record of successfully releasing games for mobile and ideally also PC.
  • Solid understanding of project management and software development methodologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Proficiency in both Mandarin & English is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate teammates and influence without authority.
  • Understanding of business KPIs, including but not limited to MAU, DAU, ARPPU and LTV, conversion/retention rates.
  • Experience working with both internal and external development teams; distributed development experience is critical.
  • Experience collaborating with executives in a fast-paced, agile environment. The ideal candidate will approach the job with a strong sense of urgency, enjoy taking the initiative, thrive at juggling multiple priorities, and seamlessly shift gears as needed.
  • Occasional international travel is required.

Please submit your CV in English.
