About the Role
The Athletic is looking for a Supervising Producer to join our growing video team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for one of the fastest-growing brands in sports, an innate love of storytelling, and the ability to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
This role will be tasked with overseeing The Athletic’s night-time video coverage. This Supervising Producer will manage video editors, work with print editors, and serve as the final set of eyes on video content created and published at night. The ideal candidate will be able to write and edit flawless copy, have an impeccable attention to detail, and must be enthusiastic about watching sports every night. The Coordinating Producer will be tasked with overseeing end-to-end production of The Athletic’s Enhanced Highlights, from topic selection to edit review to programming across TA platforms. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and proactive about working across departments, from video to digital edit to programming and social.
The primary area of coverage for this position will be football and basketball (both men’s and women’s).
This is a night-time position.
This role is 100% remote for candidates currently residing in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-production collaboration with the digital newsroom.
  • Contribute to new content ideation.
  • Review edits of nightly video content, including for copy.
  • Ensure adherence to The Athletic’s style guides in all videos.
  • Some light video editing will be required.
  • Coordinate content and promotion planning with Athletic staffers across audio, video, editorial, social and programming teams.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in video production, preferably in sports.
  • Deep well of knowledge of the football, NBA and WNBA media landscapes.
  • Must have demonstrated experience writing clean copy.
  • Must have experience editing in Adobe Premiere.
  • Basic proficiency in color correction, audio mixing preferred.
  • Experience fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation.
  • A track record of setting and exceeding both individual and team goals.
The annual base salary range for this role is $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
